I was co-founder and creative partner of Weisz Lytle Advertising for 10 years; I was the lead copywriter at Group 3hree Advertising when they were Florida’s largest agency – a wonderful experience; I served as CD of Gerbino Advertising where our creative team won numerous ADDY Awards. And, I enjoyed 3-years as co-creative director of Peter James Design, plus … I spent a great year as senior writer for a top notch direct marketing company, Nordis Direct, including: the assignment to orchestrate the redesign of their in-house graphic design studio and, I had the pleasure and responsibility for hiring some talented new members of their growing graphic design team.
ADVERTISING CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Orchestrating the grand opening of the Atrium office building in Boca Raton for Compson Development, a Buffalo, New York, based company. I created and produced the promotional materials; hired the caterers; and delivered on-site TV coverage. This was a huge success for the client and his happy tenants.
Working as Senior Writer @ Group 3hree Advertising on the Piper Aircraft, Allied Automotive, United Telephone, First Bankers and Southeast Bank accounts – we rocked! Had a fantastic time and produced exceptional work.
Seven years as the agency of record for Knight’s Pottery Warehouse. I was the writer and voice-over for their radio commercials, wrote, directed, produced their local cable TV and, along with my partner, created in-store promotions with artists, interior designers, floral designers, chefs and cookware venders. On the weekends I would be in the store on the microphone helping to sell the products. It was both satisfying and thrilling to see the lines of happy customers with loaded shopping carts.
For five fun years my agency promoted Simon Lin’s, the true gourmet Chinese restaurant at the time. They had a huge bar so we invited all the local Chambers and other business groups in for networking. This direct relationship marketing along with local print and cable TV had the place packed for lunch and dinner and special events.
Writing, directing and producing the “Times of Your Life” campaign for Charter Hospital of Miami; silver ADDY Award Winner. This was a really different experience. I lived the account; spent hours and hour’s on-site sitting in on group therapy sessions for research, writing and directing photography shoots for collateral materials – a true example of a hands-on advertising relationship. Good times!
My experience at Peter James Design was special. I had the opportunity to work with some very talented, creative human beings. We won ADDY Awards for a campaign for Siemens and, I had the unique opportunity to work with James Judd, Conductor of the Florida Philharmonic, creating marketing collateral for print, TV and radio.
As consulting Creative Director on the WCI Community’s advertising account I created grand opening campaigns for: Eagle Trace, Tall Pines, The Isles, The Landings Meadow Run, and for Fox Ridge in Parkland where I directed the model home photo shoot and planned and produced a grand opening event with a super luxury car show, classical musicians, top local chefs --a fabulous turn out that was delivered exclusively by newspaper advertising. Big response – record home sales!
I’ve always been interested in Seaports. I’ve taken photographs at Port Everglades and done watercolors there. Perhaps it has something to do with where I was born on the south English coast in Portsmouth. So, when I got the opportunity to write publications for Seaports I was delighted. I have creative directed, written and edited magazines for: Port of Oakland, Port of Jacksonville, Port of Palm Beach, Port of Miami, Tampa Port Authority and Port Everglades. During this time I also creative directed and wrote a brand image including: stationary, brochures and, a Website for International Warehouse Services, the largest company in the Free Trade Zone.
